‘I Am Cait’ not returning for Season 3
    2016-August-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

IT’S the end of the road for “I Am Cait.”

The Caitlyn Jenner-centered docuseries will not be returning for a third season, Jenner announced Tuesday.

“It’s time for the next adventure,” she said. “Thank you E! & thank you to the best girlfriends I could ask for!”

Jenner’s announcement came two weeks after RadarOnline.com reported that the series had been canceled.

An E! spokesperson issued the following statement: “We are incredibly proud of the two seasons of ‘I Am Cait,’ a groundbreaking docuseries that sparked an important and unprecedented global conversation about transgender people, their struggles and triumphs. Caitlyn and E! have mutually decided not to move forward with another season at this time. She will always remain a part of the E! family, and we look forward to continue following her journey as she appears on ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians.’”

“I Am Cait” premiered in July 2015, several months after Jenner spoke publicly for the first time about her transition in an April TV interview with Diane Sawyer that nabbed 16.9 million viewers. However, the show failed to make a big splash when it debuted, attracting just 2.7 million viewers. The second episode fell to 1.3 million viewers.

When “I Am Cait” returned in March for season two, ratings had plummeted to a series low of 745,000 viewers. Season two also brought a creative overhaul to the show, which moved from focusing on Jenner’s evolving relationships with her family and friends post-transition to following her on a cross-country road trip with several close friends.

The season-two — and now series — finale of “I Am Cait” aired in April.

“I Am Cait” was one of several “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” spin-offs. The flagship series, which is currently in its 12th season, has spawned series such as “Kourtney” and “Kim Takes New York” and the upcoming “Rob & Chyna” spin-off, centered on Rob Kardashian and his fiancee Blac Chyna, which is set to launch Sept. 11 on E! (SD-Agencies)
