SHANGHAI SIPG’S attacking midfielder Dario Conca will miss the rest of the season after deciding to undergo leg surgery in the United States, the Chinese Super League (CSL) club said Wednesday night.
The club said Conca left Wednesday night for the United States.
The Argentine picked up the injury last Friday when he scored the second goal in SIPG’s 4-1 victory over Shijiazhuang Ever Bright in a CSL match. He crashed into Shijiazhuang goalie Guan Zhen when taking the shot, and was carried off the pitch on a stretcher. The club said Conca injured his meniscus and anterior cruciate ligament in the left leg.
Conca played for CSL side Guangzhou Evergrande from 2011 to 2013. When the player signed for Evergrande in 2011, he was made the third-highest paid player in the world, behind only Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
