Three percussionists from the Netherlands who call themselves Twitching Eye Trio will stage a show Saturday. The 70-minute show promises to rock the eyes and boom the ears of the local audience
The comedic presentation of percussion music uses everyday utensils to produce various sounds. The audience will be amazed to find that doors, boxes, barrels and even sticks and towels become musical instruments in the hands of the three artists. The trio — Achim Heine, Jasper Goedman and Marijn Korff de Gidts — also perform on mysterious Indian hang drums, passionate cajon drums and more familiar instruments like jazz drums. With different landscapes, nightscapes and soundscapes, the players create a show that will lead the audience into various life scenarios. While telling a suspenseful story about finding their way to a bright future, their repertoire combines modern music with influences from Turkish, Indian and Afro-Cuban folk music.
The trio’s show, a box office hit at the Royal Concert Hall in Amsterdam in 2011, has toured many cities in their home country.
