‘Hungry Caterpillar’ creeping to town
    2016-August-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A beloved story by Eric Carle, award-winning children’s book illustrator and author, will be retold on stage through the magic of black-light and fanciful puppets.

“The Very Hungry Caterpillar” follows the wonderful adventures of a tiny and hungry caterpillar as he eats his way through an amazing variety of foods on his path to becoming a beautiful butterfly.

Designed and directed by Jim Morrow, the hour-long production features the imaginative approach to storytelling through theater that has earned international recognition for Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia.

“Masterful children’s authors, and there are many, are able to evoke a sense of wonder and awe through elegant storytelling, delightful pictures and memorable characters,” says Morrow. “Stories, pictures and characters that children want to visit again and again, night after night. Many of these stories also make good plays.”

Morrow believes the children “respond positively to the bright colors, the playful action, the recognizable characters and imagery and the beautiful music.
