LIU WEN is a 28-year-old Chinese fashion model based in New York City who has deals with Estee Lauder and La Perla. Liu was the first Asian model to make the Forbes list back in 2013, and she keeps a place in the top 10 this year. Liu is often considered the first Chinese supermodel. She boasts a resumé listing a series of industry firsts, marking her as one of the most successful Asian models in the industry. Along with becoming the first Asian model to appear in campaigns for Estée Lauder and to walk as a Victoria’s Secret Angel, Liu has also walked a record 74 shows in New York, London, Milan, and Paris for the Autumn/Winter 2009 season, followed by 70 for Spring/Summer 2010, making her the second most-booked catwalk model that year. She was dubbed as “China’s first bona fide supermodel” by The New York Times in 2012. Liu started her modelling career in 2005 as a contestant in the New Silk Road World Model Contest. Although she initially just wanted to win the grand prize — a computer — Liu quickly landed full-time work with features in Chinese editions of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
