    Ukiyo-e exhibition

    Ukiyo-e paintings are on display at Bridge Gallery. The ukiyo-e genre of art flourished in Japan from the 17th through 19th centuries. Its artists produced woodblock prints and paintings of such subjects as female beauties, kabuki actors, sumo wrestlers, scenes from history and folk tales, landscapes, flora and fauna and erotica. The term ukiyo-e translates as “pictures of the floating world.”

    Dates: Until Sept. 8

    Venue: Bridge Gallery, Wenchang Street South, OCT-LOFT, Nanshan District (南山区华侨城创意园文昌南街桥舍画廊)

    ‘New Creature’

    Forty contemporary art projects by 37 artists from eight countries and regions are exhibited at the OCT Art and Design Gallery. Themed “New Creatures,” the exhibition presents new art and designs that use materials in an unconventional or experimental way in the form of paintings, pictures, sculptures, videos and installations.

    Dates: Until Oct. 16

    Open: 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. (Closed on Mondays)
