Singaporean rock band In Each Hand a Cutlass will play at B10 Live tonight (Sept. 13).
The band blends progressive rock, ambient, post-rock and metal elements, casting aside all musical boundaries, to create epic and powerful songs to lift your spirit. They tear into their instruments with an intense, unbridled energy, delivering engaging and immersive performances that are simultaneously technically accomplished, musically nuanced and visually exciting.
OXYD, a five-member jazz band from Paris, France, will perform a gig at B10 Live to promote their latest album “Long Now” tomorrow night (Sept. 14), as part of their “Plugged in Nirvana” tour.
OXYD is conducted by pianist and composer Alexandre Herer, playing a Fender Rhodes, electronics and several effects. Trumpet player Olivier Laisney and tenor sax player Julien Pontvianne make up a great front line, as well in leading melody and improvising. Oliver Degabriele on electric bass and Thibault Perriard on drums support OXYD with a high-quality rhythm section.
OXYD plays their own compositions inspired by European and American jazz music, with influences of rock, pop and contemporary music.
This year, they released the new instrumental album “Long Now” (already available on iTunes China), along with which they’ve started a quite special journey called “Plugged in Nirvana,” bringing us along to revisit the legendary rock band Nirvana in progressive jazz.
American dream pop/indie folk duo Damon & Naomi will perform Thursday (Sept. 15). Damon & Naomi was formed in 1991 by Damon Krukowski and Naomi Yang. Damon & Naomi released their first album “More Sad Hits” in 1992. They were then contacted by Kate Biggar and Wayne Rogers and the two couples teamed up to form the psychedelic rock band Magic Hour, and released three albums between 1993 and 1996. At the same time, Damon & Naomi continued to record as a duo, releasing their second album, “The Wondrous World of Damon & Naomi” in 1995.
U.S. band Tonstartssbandht will perform Saturday (Sept. 17). Tonstartssbandht is made up of two brothers, Andy White and Edwin M. White. While living in Canada in 2009 they began to attract attention in the Montreal loft scene with a series of self-released songs and live shows. Their music explores a deep love for boogie, 1960s psychedelic-rock and choral pop. The sound of the guitar/drum duo grows in a live setting with relentless percussion, heavy riffing and angelic vocal harmonies. Their solo projects “Andy Boay” and “Eola” separately follow this vocal psych-pop adventure into deeper and more abstract terrains.
