FOODIES are constantly trying to one-up each other when it comes to original culinary and coffee creations. And the edible selfie is the latest trend to make its way through the fiercely competitive cafe industry. Two friends from New York recently started Selffee — a business allowing customers to have their selfies or pictures printed on top of their cakes or coffees. The unique technology allows the team to utilize a water based edible ink that is totally safe to eat. The clever concept took off when the company launched a pop-up at the New York Independent Art Book Fair. Since, hundreds of customers have uploaded snaps of themselves alongside their frothy faces. “Will you eat your face? We just did eat ours and it was so cool!” One man wrote on Instagram next to two iced coffees stamped with his own and his girlfriend’s face. “Selffee (AKA The edible selfie) is the new food technology, which can print the image on the cream of the iced coffee or cupcake. The edible inks used to create the image are FDA approved and safe to consume.” “Starting my career as a literal whipped cream model. The coolest experience,” another wrote. Selffee is the latest in a range of edible selfie businesses, along with Selfie Coffee in Taiwan and Singapore.(SD-Agencies) |
