Short film depicts Chinese assistance to WWII Jewish refugees
    2016-09-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A short film about Chinese assistance to Jewish refugees during World War II has recently garnered acclaim in the West.

“A Children’s Song,” a China-U.S. collaboration, has won seven awards in the United States at film events such as the California Women’s Film Festival and the NYC Indie Film Awards.

During World War II, around 25,000 Jewish refugees, welcomed by local residents, settled in Shanghai.

The film is based on a true story during that period.

Chinese songstress* Zhang Liangying has lent her voice to the theme song of the film.

The film’s production team says a release date in China is set for the near future.

Back in April, “A Children’s Song” was selected by the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angles for a special screening. It has also been permanently collected by the Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum.
