‘From Baroque to Tango concert’ by Li Biao’S band

    Chinese percussionist Li Biao and his band will present Rudi Bauer’s “Seven Seas,” Vivaldi’s “Concerto in D Major,” Nebojsa Zivkovic’s “IIijas,” G.H.Green’s “Ragtimes Suite,” Bach’s “Italian Concerto, BWV 971,” Wolfgang Reifeneder’s “Crossover for Snare Drum Solo,” Philipp Jungk’s “Taklamakan,” Piazzolla’s “La Muerte del Angel,” “LiberTango,” “Escualo” and Russel Peck’s “Lift Off.”

    Li won world acclaim as an exceptional solo percussionist in the contemporary era by virtue of his extraordinary musicality on percussion instruments as well as his unique demeanor.

    He studied at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Russia and the Munich Conservatory of Music in Germany. During his studies, Li attained awards in many international prestigious competitions, such as the Debrecen Percussion Competition in 1993 and the Alimata Music Competition in 1995.

    Li is proficient in playing a variety of percussion instruments including the marimba among many other instruments from Africa, America, Europe and Asia. During a concert, Li tends to perform using more than 50 to 60 different kinds of percussion instruments.

    As a talented soloist, Li is competent in performing an extensive range of musical work. Apart from various musical pieces from different periods, he also plays his own percussion pieces.
