Autumn views at rice terraces
    2016-10-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AS the National Day passed by, the best time for enjoying a nice rice terrace view is quickly approaching. Where can we enjoy a beautiful terrace view? You don’t need to go far as there are plenty to be found here in Guangdong.

    Qingyuan Oujia Terrace

    Largest rice terrace in GD

Oujia Terrace is located in Oujia Village, Lianshan County of Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province. The terrace is at the foot of Dawu Mountain, which is called “the roof of Guangdong.” Oujia Terrace can be divided into two main parts: one lies at the front of the village, and is the best place for taking photos of the sunrise and fog; while the other part is at the back of the village, and is suitable for enjoying the sunset.

As autumn comes, rice paddies turn yellow, filling the terrace with golden splendor. As the wind blows, your nose is filled with the fragrance of rice.

Oujia Terrace is still developing and many families provide farm stay services. Visitors can stay there and enjoy a taste of the authentic local cuisine.

Not far from Oujia Terrace is the Nangang Qiannian Yao Village, which is the largest, oldest and most distinctive Yao village in the world. Besides the Yao village, visitors can also climb Dawu Mountain. The mountain is great for hiking and photography.

Bus: Take a bus from Shenzhen to Lianzhou. Get off the bus at Taibao Town or Lianshan Longwei Village. And then take a motorbike to Oujia Village.

    Qingyuan Heishan Mountain Terrace

    An ignored terrace

The Heishan Mountain Terrace lies behind Oujia Terrace. Most people are familiar with Oujia Terrace and only a few end up going to Heishan Mountain. However, in autumn, the Heishan Mountain Terrace also enjoys amazing views.

Golden paddies stretch from the top to the foot of the mountain. Walk along the path and you can see scarecrows with various postures. Some of them have their arms open as if embracing guests from afar.

In addition to the golden terrace, there is also a hidden sea of purple flowers on Dawu Mountain. Local villagers have taken advantages of the geography and have planted numerous azaleas there.

Lianshan Mountain Daoxiang Festival is currently taking place. People can enjoy the beautiful terrace view and singing and dance performances, while tasting local cuisine.

Bus: Take a bus from Shenzhen to Lianzhou. Get off the bus at Taibao Town or Lianshan Longwei Village. And then take a motorbike to Heishan Village.

    Huizhou Jiaofeng Terrace

    Unique and primitive style

Jiaofeng Village is a primitive and beautiful place. The local stone houses and trails are full of the She ethnic group’s unique characteristics and charm.

The small village is located at the foot of Nanshan Mountain.

Other recommended spots around the area include Jiulong Peak, Wenchang Palace, Zhiyin Pavilion and Longtong Temple. In addition, the spot is very close to Nanshan Mountain’s rafting spot.

Bus: Take a bus from Shenzhen to Lianzhou. Get off the bus at Taibao Town or Lianshan Longwei Village. And then take a motorbike to Jiaofeng Village.
