A SEVERELY injured baby magpie rescued from the side of the road has now made a home for herself with a human family. One-year-old Swanny Magoo lives with her adopted family on a farm in country Victoria, Australia and is known for playing fetch, stealing grated cheese from the kitchen and even visiting the local pub. She was rescued 12 months ago by couple Lisa Davis and Adam Leslie after they found her dying on the side of a road. “She had been hit by a car and had a broken leg, a mangled wing and she was covered in blood,” Davis said. “We didn’t think she’d make it, but we couldn’t let her stay there to be eaten alive.” They took the baby magpie home fearing the worst, but just days later she started squawking and flapping about. “We force-fed her mince and worms for three days and then she decided I was her mom,” Davis said. She has now become part of the family and follows everyone around just like their pet dogs. “She comes to the local pub and swimming pool. She goes for drives with us. When you come home she greets you,” Davis said. “She loves the kids. She loves to wrestle with them and she plays fetch. I can’t believe how much she is part of the family.” (SD-Agencies) |
