THE third Aloft Star music competition by MTV was held recently at Aloft Guangzhou Tianhe. Wang Dazhi, the Aloft Star of China, received US$10,000 for winning the competition. His music will be shown on MTV International, the world’s premier youth entertainment brand with a global reach of more than a half billion households.
The Aloft Star competition has been held three times and this year’s competition started June 1. The competition aims to identify and support the hottest emerging musicians in markets including China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand.
In the China finals, Wang together with other four groups of contestants including A-Mac, Red Flower, Ye Shuxian, and N7 performed live. The competition encourages musicians who write their own original music. Through supporting the musicians in the Asia-Pacific area, the cultural diversity of the region can be brought to the spotlight. After three years of competition, the competiton has garnered great popularity. Aloft Hotels, as a leading platform for supporting musicians, have also formed their own unique characteristics in the hotel industry.
