    2016-October-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The Dapeng New Year Marathon (42.195 km) will be held Jan. 1, 2017 and will use a lottery system to fill the spots. Runners can register at http://www.newyearmarathon.cn/ until 10 a.m. Oct. 15.

The entry fee is 260 yuan. Runners must be over 23 to register. The route will start at Dapeng Peninsula Geopark and is along the picturesque Daya Bay coast.

The marathon starts at 7:30 a.m., free buses will be offered at various downtown locations to bring runners to the race: north gate of Shenzhen University, south gate of Shenzhen Stadium, Bao’an Gymnasium, Bantian Metro Station and Longcheng Square in Longgang District.

Meanwhile, the Nanshan Half Marathon will be held Nov. 27 and will start at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center. Although the individual category is already full, runners can still apply for the family run category until Oct. 15 at http://www.szns-marathon.com/index.aspx.

The 3 km family run applicants should be between 6 and 60 years old and the registration fee is 100 yuan per person. Each group should have no more than four members and children should not outnumber adults in each group.

Meanwhile, the U Running Group is seeking 50 volunteers for visually-impaired runners. The volunteers will attend the weekly running training at 8 a.m. every Sunday at Lianhua Hill Park with the visually-impaired runners and then will run with them at the Shenzhen Marathon scheduled in December.

To sign up to volunteer, contact WeChat 13509674111. (Cao Zhen)
