AN international laboratory targeting research in advanced manufacturing will be established through joint effort of the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUStech), University of Michigan and Beijing Institute of Collaborative Innovation, according to an agreement signed Saturday at the Wuzhou Guest House.
The laboratory, funded by the Beijing Institute of Collaborative Innovation, will help talented people of SUSTech build connections with the world’s leading scientists, keep pace with cutting-edge technologies and advance their capacity for innovation.
The Beijing Institute of Collaborative Innovation has established two other laboratories in photoelectric materials, components and advanced materials through cooperation with U.S. Stanford and Northwestern universities and Chinese Peking and Tsinghua universities. SUSTech will also cooperate with the Beijing Institute of Collaborative Innovation to establish the Southern International Collaborative Innovation Research Institute to undertake part of the research lab.
At a meeting with Mark Schlissel, president of the University of Michigan, Shenzhen Party chief Ma Xingrui said he hoped for further cooperation between Shenzhen and the university in education and research to enhance the city’s effort to become a world center for scientific and technological innovation.
