German violinist and pianist Julia Fischer will collaborate with German pianist Martin Helmchen to present Dvorak’s “Violin Sonata in G Major,” Schubert’s “Violin Sonata in D Major” and Brahms’ “Violin Sonata No. 3 in D Minor.”

    Among the most prestigious competitions that Fischer has won are the International Yehudi Menuhin Violin Competition, where she won both the first prize and the special prize for best Bach solo work performance in 1995, and the Eighth Eurovision Competition for Young Instrumentalists in 1996.

    In 1997, Fischer was awarded the Prix d’Espoir by the Foundation of European Industry. As well, she had the opportunity to play Mozart’s own violin in the room in which he was born in Salzburg to honor the 250th anniversary of his birth.

    Her active repertoire spans from Bach to Penderecki, from Vivaldi to Shostakovich, containing over 40 works with orchestras and about 60 works of chamber music.

    Helmchen graduated from the Hanns Eisler Music Conservatory and Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media. In 2001 he won the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition. In 2003, he won the International Kissinger Klavierolymp Competition.

    His specialty is chamber music, he has performed extensively with Heinrich Schiff and Marie-Elisabeth Hecker. Collaborations with further artists have included Gidon Kremer, Christian Tetzlaff, Sharon Kam, Tabea Zimmermann, Juliane Banse, Sabine Meyer and Lars Vogt.
