THE day after winning the prestigious Nobel Prize in Literature, Bob Dylan, who’s gearing up to perform at Weekend 2 of Desert Trip in the Coachella Desert, can celebrate another milestone. The Associated Press reported on Friday that Spotify listeners are streaming his vast musical collection at an increase of 512 percent since the news broke on Thursday about his new award.

    The Nobel committee received some backlash for their decision to award the musician with the prize in literature, but the music streaming statistics reveal that his fans, at least, are celebrating his prolific accomplishment the best way they know how: by cranking up their favorite tracks. “His most-listened song after earning the prize was ‘Like a Rolling Stone,’ which was increased by 258 percent,” according to the wire service.

    The AP also noteed that “the 75-year-old is arguably the most iconic poet-musician of his generation.”

    Dylan is also the first American winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature since Toni Morrison in 1993.

    The Nobel Prize is just one more of the greatest honors given to artists: Dylan has also received Presidential Medal of Freedom (2012), a Pulitzer Prize (2008), an Oscar (2001), a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award (1991) and a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction (1988). (SD-Agencies)
