THE 10th Shenzhen International Financial Exposition (Finexpo), opened at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center on Saturday, alongside with the Second China (Shenzhen) Financial Management Forum focusing on hot issues and financial innovation in the domestic financial sector.

At the forum, experts were invited to give keynote speeches on the current situation and operating mechanisms for the financial sector from different angles. They also shared their experience on how to cultivate financial talents and guard against financial risks.

“Shenzhen’s financial sector, one of the pillar industries in the city, still grew fast under a stagnant domestic financial market and ranked No. 3 after Beijing and Shanghai with an increase of 260 billion yuan (US$38.52 billion) in total assets in 2015,” said, Li Jun, representative of the organizer China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Shenzhen.

Ouyang Hui, a doctor in finance at UC Berkeley and a student of the Nobel Prize winner Rudyi Marcus, gave a speech about crisis and opportunity.

There have been financial innovations such as Internet finance, education finance and culture finance in Shenzhen over recent years.

“I came here especially for the insights and analysis by financial experts and economists. In fact, I have purchased some financial derivatives. Hopefully, I can learn something beneficial for my future investments,” said, Sasaki, an expo visitor who is from Tokyo and now teaching at Shenzhen University.

The three-day Shenzhen Finexpo, one of the three largest financial expositions in China, attracted nearly 300 financial institutions and almost 1,000 entrepreneurs, including 32 overseas financial institutions from 11 countries. Banks, securities companies, insurance companies, Internet finance companies and investment funds exhibited their achievements and latest financial programs at their booths.

Since 2007, it has been held annually, promoting the development of Shenzhen’s financial sector and building up an open platform for international financial communication and cooperation.
