Jose Carreras to take a bow

    Spanish tenor Jose Carreras, who will turn 70 soon, will stage a farewell concert.

    Conducted by David Gimenez Carreras, the tenor’s nephew, the concert will also feature soprano Celine Byrne and be accompanied by the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra. The repertoire includes beloved excerpts from operas as well as folk songs from around the world. The tenor has also prepared Chinese folk songs for his encore.

    Particularly known for his performances in the operas of Verdi and Puccini, the tenor made his debut on the operatic stage at 11 and went on to achieve a career that encompassed over 60 roles, performing in the world’s leading opera houses and in numerous recordings.
