    Thousands of pots of bougainvillea, the city flower of Shenzhen, will be on show at an exhibition in the Lianhua Hill Park.

    Bird-watching

    Shenzhen Bay Park is welcoming locals to observe migratory birds at the park every weekend from this month to April next year, when migratory birds from the north will stay here to escape the cold. Observers can sign up upon arrival at the park and watch for 20 minutes. Observers are suggested to not wear bright colors such as red, yellow and orange as they may scare the birds away. This weekend, the observation is scheduled for 2:30-4:30 p.m., Nov. 12, 13.

    Free English movie

    Watch an English movie and communicate with like-minded people in English. This Friday, “The Great Debaters” will be shown. “The Great Debaters” is a 2007 American biographical drama film directed by and starring Denzel Washington. It is based on an article written about the Wiley College debate team by Tony Scherman for the 1997 spring issue of American Legacy.

    American singer-songwriter and pianist Rachael Yamagata from Arlington, Virginia, will give a concert. She began her musical career with the band Bumpus before becoming a solo artist and releasing four EPs and three studio albums. She has collaborated with Jason Mraz, Rhett Miller, Bright Eyes, Ryan Adams, Toots and the Maytals and Ray Lamontagne.

    Luo Zhongli
