MEGHAN TRAINOR and Maren Morris are the latest addition to the list of honorees at Billboard’s 11th annual Women in Music event, to be held Dec. 9 in New York City. Both Trainor and Morris will also perform live at the gala. The Grammy-winning pop star Trainor will be recognized with the 2016 Women in Music “Chart Topper” award, recognizing an artist who notched notable achievements on Billboard’s music charts this year. Country sensation Morris will receive this year’s Women in Music “Breakthrough Artist” award, given to an artist who’s emerged as a leading voice in the past year, and released career-defining work. Madonna is 2016’s Woman of the Year award recipient. Her Rebel Heart Tour, which wrapped in March, sold more than 1 million tickets earning US$170 million. Also being honored at Billboard’s 2016 Women in Music event will be country great Shania Twain, who will be receiving the “Icon” award. Current Hot 100-topping artist Halsey will be named “Rising Star.” R&B talent Andra Day will be honored as “Powerhouse” for her breathtaking vocal prowess. (SD-Agencies) |
