    THE Belgium Bruxelles Capitale delegation at the China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) was introduced yesterday morning, with government officials from the Brussels Capital Region of Belgium hosting the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

    Since 2008, the Belgian delegation has attended every CHTF and it is their ninth visit this year, showing their strong willingness and potential to cooperate with Shenzhen.

    The Bruxelles Capitale delegation, representing the foreign investment and trade promoting agency of the Brussels government, has been focused on creating a bridge between the high-tech companies in Belgium and China, said Elise Shen, a representative from the Consulate of Belgium in Shanghai.

    This year, the Brussels delegation is presenting the theme “green housing” by bringing architectural design firms dedicated to building environmentally friendly buildings. Because of the trend of “passive houses” and environmental concerns, Brussels has plenty of companies with advanced experience in green architecture, construction and reconstruction, which also suits Shenzhen and many other Chinese modern cities.

    Nine famous companies and representative architects were introduced at the CHTF on green construction, covering press management, photography, office services, energy conservation, architecture as well as legal consultation.

    One of the nine companies, the Schreder Lighting Industrial — which specializes in lighting and environmental decoration — has cooperated with China for over three decades, and has been in charge of several famous lighting projects including the Bund in Shanghai (2010) and Birds’ Nest (2008) in Beijing.

    Along with the companies from Brussels, ICT companies focused on information technology, visual design and green energy from another high-tech region in Belgium, Wallonia, also attended the CHTF. Wallonia provides preferential policies for foreign investment, with workforce and environmental privileges.
