A TEENAGE tycoon is a millionaire at 14 after a lucrative property deal made him a fortune. Harvey Millington bought up 1.2 hectares of land for £40,000 (US$49,704) after making £100,000 from his road tax reminder business. The schoolboy, from Taunton, Somerset, was going to start his own glamping business. But the pocket of land was surrounded by fields bought up by a developer, who knocked on his door and offered him a fortune to buy it. He said, “I wasn’t sure how much they were going to offer for the land, but they came up with £2 million. “It was too good to turn down. It’s a massive amount, especially for someone at my age.” Despite his wealth Harvey is a police cadet and wants to be a police officer when he is older. Harvey has already made thousands from a tax disc reminder company set up when he was 13. His father Howard, 46, a gardener, gave him £2,000 to start it after he noticed his dad’s car didn’t have a tax disc in the windscreen. He said, “If he started getting too big for his boots I would make sure he winds his neck in! But to be honest that won’t happen. “I’ve taught him you have to work hard to get on in life. He’s a grounded lad and is just a great businessman.” Harvey’s family said the schoolboy has sold more than 20,000 of his paper tax disc reminders for £4 each. (SD-Agencies) |
