
People look up as an elevated railway train runs in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China’s Sichuan Province, yesterday. China’s first sky train was put into operation yesterday, making it the third country after Germany and Japan to develop the technology. The new train can hold over 200 passengers and travel at speeds of up to 60 km/h. The train is driven by batteries that can run for four hours at a time, which makes it the world’s first battery-powered suspension railway train, and the batteries can be changed when the train stops at a station, with the whole process lasting only two minutes.
