CHTF SEES RECORD NUMBER OF OVERSEAS EXHIBITORS

A TOTAL of 43 exhibiting delegations from 30 countries had set up their booths at the 18th China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) over the past six days, setting a record for the number of overseas exhibitors at the fair, said Su Yanwei, deputy director of the fair’s organizing committee, at a media conference yesterday, the last day of the fair.

“The organizing committee for this year’s fair put a lot of effort into providing services for overseas exhibitors and we are pleased to see that delegations from more countries and regions choose the fair as the platform to promote themselves in China,” said Su.

The deputy director concluded that the fair had improved in many ways, compared to previous fairs, especially in internationalization.

Some chambers of commerce and industrial associations also made great efforts to bring technological enterprises to the fair, he said.

For instance, the European Union brought 14 research and scientific institutions from nine European countries to the fair this year, which attracted a large professional audience and buyers who were seeking to cooperate with European institutions, according to Su.

In particular, Russian and German delegations had participated in the fair for over a dozen years, he said.

The large exhibition area for enterprises from South Korea was a highlight of this year’s international exhibition zone, according to Su. An array of interactive activities that engaged hundreds of technological companies from all around the world were also held.

On Saturday, two purchasing-negotiation meetings were held exclusively for overseas buyers at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, with buyers from over 30 countries, including the United States, Canada, Germany, India and Singapore, attending and showing interest in purchasing products displayed at the fair.

The technological products that most attracted the overseas buyers’ attention were from industries like intelligent home appliances, mobile digital products, intelligent wearable devices, green building materials and environmentally friendly products.

At yesterday’s media conference, the deputy chief secretary of the organizing committee, Gao Yu, concluded that the fair had been successful. Yet, no statistics on trade volume were revealed at the conference.

Gao expected that the annual tech fair would develop into a world-class international fair in the near future as services, global standards and professional organization improved.

He also disclosed that the fair was expected to become China’s largest exhibition in 2018, when the new convention and exhibition hall near the Shenzhen airport in Bao’an District opens.
