Ballet Flamenco de Madrid to present ‘Carmen’
    2016-November-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Ballet Flamenco de Madrid from Spain will present “Carmen” at the Shenzhen Poly Theater on Jan. 12.

“Carmen” tells of a tragic love story that takes place in Seville, Spain around 1830. A beautiful gypsy with a fiery temper, Carmen seduces corporal Don Jose, an inexperienced soldier. Jose deserts from his military duties and runs off with the girl. However, Jose begins to miss his mother and life in the barracks. Later Carmen falls in love with the bullfighter Escamillo, and disregards Jose’s desperate attempts to get her to stay with him. At the end, Jose kills her in a jealous rage.

Ballet Flamenco de Madrid adapts opera “Carmen” into a flamenco show including music, dancing, singing and instruments. The production is characterized by expressive, passionate and graceful dancing postures. The spiritual communication brings tremendous appeal to audiences and links them to the performers during the whole performance. The show has been performed over 2,500 times in Spain and abroad.

Ballet Flamenco de Madrid was founded in 2000. The current group was established through several mergers and expansions. It has also built a cultural association in Spain to promote culture and art communication worldwide.

Ballet Flamenco de Madrid has created and performed several outstanding shows, including “Flamenco Feeling,” “Espana Baila Flamenco” and “Carmina Burana.”
