Chinese-language children’s play “Boonie Bears,” presented by Shenzhen Huaqiang Digital Animation Co. Ltd., will be shown Dec. 18 at Children’s Palace.
“Boonie Bears” is a popular Chinese cartoon series. The main characters are a logger, Vick, and two bears, Briar and Bramble. It generally revolves around Vick’s attempts to chop timber and the bears’ attempts to stop him. Another character is a hyperactive squirrel.
The play version has many interactive features. During the performance, children will enjoy the familiar scene of the forest on the stage and experience the joy of the story right in front of their eyes. According to the director, the play not only has the cute characters from the cartoon but also includes new stories and cheerful dances. The bear brothers and Vick will act among the audience and play with the children.
The TV version of “Boonie Bears” was first shown in 2012 and quickly became one of the most popular children’s shows in China. A film based on the series, “Boonie Bears: To the Rescue,” premiered in China on Jan. 17, 2014. A second film, “Boonie Bears: Mystical Winter,” was released Jan. 30, 2015.
