The cast of Damien Chazelle’s new musical “La La Land” will be given the Best Ensemble Acting Award at the 21st edition of the Capri Hollywood Film Festival, which is set to run Dec. 26-Jan. 2. The film will have a special screening on the picturesque island off the coast of Naples on Jan. 1. Emma Stone plays an aspiring actress and Ryan Gosling portrays a jazz musician who dreams of opening his own club. The two meet and fall in love, dancing and singing their way through modern-day Los Angeles in a portrait of the city that pays respects to its many dreamers. The pic also stars John Legend, Rosemarie DeWitt and J.K. Simmons. The Capri Hollywood Film Festival takes place over the New Year holiday annually and is considered a key stop on the road to the Oscars. “La La Land” is considered a prime contender for best picture this year, among other honors. Stone picked up the best actress award in Venice at the film’s world premiere, and the pic won the People’s Choice award in Toronto this year. Stone and Gosling also will be feted as performers of the year at the Santa Barbara Film Festival in February. Bill Mechanic will receive producer of the year honor, and Stephen Frears will be feted as European director of the year for “Florence Foster Jenkins.” (SD-Agencies) |
