U.S. metal band A Scent Like Wolves and Swiss band KOVLO will perform gigs at B10 Live this week.
A Scent Like Wolves has been making a huge impact in both the Pennsylvania scene and other crowds on the east coast of America. The band combines the intensity of the metalcore genre with the melody of alternative rock, allowing them to integrate flawlessly into numerous scenes. This interesting blend of polar-opposite genres was masterfully recorded by Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland in “...And the Story Goes,” the band’s self-released LP. Using raw power and disciplined musicianship, the band has been picking up more momentum with every show they play, from basement shows to convention centers.
The instrumental sound of KOVLO moves between quiet, intimate and mysterious soundscapes, blending it with hypnotic, furious and violent noise explosions in the best tradition of bands such as Mogwai, GSYBE!, Shellac, Isis, Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Ros.
With the release of their first three records, “A New Position for the Second Degree Burnt” (2005), “I’m So Happy on This Boat” (2008) and “Hey Mom, Where’s Timbuktu?” (2011), KOVLO has become one of the most interesting and important Swiss post-rock and instrumental rock bands.
During their performances, the band is able to express at their best the tension and power of their music with its psychedelic and hypnotic sounds. During their European tours they played in various countries, including Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Czech Republic, to name a few.
In 2012 the band composed the original soundtrack for Swiss movie “Tutti Giu — Everybody Sometimes Falls,” which appeared at a number of film festivals (Locarno, Montreal, Kaunas, Mons and Hof). The original soundtrack was then released in an album in 2013.
