    Woman missing

A 25-YEAR-OLD woman, named Guo Xiaoli, has been out of reach for eight days since the night of Dec. 1 when she went to neighboring Dongguan. Police are looking into the case.

Guo, who works at a sports center in Shenzhen, was supposed to meet her cousin in Dongguan on Dec. 2, but was last seen on a CCTV camera at 9:28 p.m. Dec. 1. The footage showed her walking out of a restaurant with a man.

Her cousin said she had contacted Guo one hour before that. Guo’s phone has remained turned off and her family has not been able to reach her.

    Corruption sentence

A SECOND trial maintained a three-year jail sentence for a former section chief of the planning and construction office at Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology, surnamed Xue, for taking bribes when purchasing stationary, research and teaching equipment for the institution.

The bribes Xue took totaled around 280,000 yuan (US$40,703). The first trial’s verdict was issued in March this year.

    SZ-Zhongshan Passage

CONSTRUCTION work of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Passage will begin this month, announced Yu Xipen, director of Zhongshan’s Transportation Bureau during a recent inspection of the construction site in Zhongshan.

The passage, linking Shenzhen with Zhongshan, is expected to be completed by the end of 2023 or the first half of 2024. The passage will greatly shorten the travel time between the two cities.

    Hospital expansion

THE Nanshan health department started land acquisition for an expansion project of Nanshan People’s Hospital, which is scheduled to be initiated in January.

According to the district’s plan, the expansion project covers an area of 83,000 square meters, with the floor space reaching 280,000 square meters. The project, with an initial investment of 1.6 billion yuan, will offer 1,300 beds and 1,700 parking places when it is put into operation.
