    A MAN who attempted to climb out of an elevator that was stuck on the fourth floor due to a mechanical failure died after he accidentally fell from the elevator, the Longhua authority said in a release Wednesday.

    Two men, whose names were unknown, were trapped in the elevator at around 6 p.m. Wednesday in Xiaozao Industrial Park after it got stuck on the fourth floor. One of the men forced open the gate and attempted to climb out, but unfortunately he fell from the elevator.

    The man later died at the hospital and the other man who stayed in the elevator was saved by rescuers.

    Longhua police and the work safety department have started an investigation.
