Kate McKinnon to star in Amblin’s ‘The Lunch Witch’
    2016-12-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

KATE MCKINNON is serving up lunch. The “Office Christmas Party” and “Ghostbusters” actress will star in Amblin Entertainment’s “The Lunch Witch.”

Clay Kaytis, the co-director of “Angry Birds” (which featured McKinnon in its voice cast), will make his live-action helming debut with the adaptation of Deb Lucke’s 2015 children’s book. Michael De Luca is producing, and De Luca Productions’ Johnny Pariseau is an executive producer.

McKinnon will play the titular Grunhilda, a cold-hearted woman who inherits her famous ancestors’ recipes and cauldron in a world where no one believes in magic anymore. When she takes on a job as a school lunch lady, she delights in scaring students — until she meets a timid girl who needs help at school and home and becomes an unlikely friend.

The “Saturday Night Live” Emmy winner’s film career has been taking off, as she’s also in the Sony ensemble comedy “Rock That Body.”
