    THE 5th Shenzhen International Chess Open Tournament was held Saturday at the Shenzhen Book City CBD Store, attracting more than 100 players, including some of the best chess players in the city.

    Organized by Hanbridge Mandarin Language School in cooperation with the Shenzhen Chess Academy, the event was attended by Liu Shilan, the first Asian female chess Grandmaster and head of the Shenzhen Chess Academy, and Ye Jiangchun, a national chess team coach and deputy director of China’s International Chess Department.

    After winning all six rounds in the amateur contest, Lam King-wai from Hong Kong was named champion of the tournament in the men’s category. Gilles Stoven from France and Lo Billy from Hong Kong landed as the runner-up and third place winners.

    Wang Lilan was named champion in the women’s category, and Yu Jingrui won the championship in the children’s category.
