A 25-YEAR-OLD woman known as Guo Xiaoli was confirmed dead in the neighboring city of Dongguan by her family. The suspect has been detained, according to the police, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported.

    Guo, who reportedly worked at a sports center in Futian District, was supposed to meet her cousin in Dongguan on Dec. 2, but was last seen on a CCTV camera at 9:28 p.m. Dec. 1. The footage showed her walking out of a restaurant with a man after staying there for an hour.

    Guo’s cousin, surnamed Ke, told the Daily that Guo’s family had confirmed that it was Guo’s body at a police station in Dongguan according to the clothes and accessories she wore.

    Police detained the suspect, who was the man whom Guo walked out with, but the motivation of the murder has yet to be found out.

    Ke said that she and Guo’s family were thankful to people who had helped look for their family member, but since her cousin was found dead, they would like to stay undisturbed.

    Dongguan police said that although the family had confirmed the body was the missing woman they were looking for, they still needed to verify the identity of the body. The police also said they would look further into the case. (Zhang Qian)
