A TOTAL of 135 bus routes on Shennan Boulevard, Shennan Road Central and Shahe West Road will be adjusted Sunday to make way for the Shenzhen International Marathon.
The buses will be diverted to Sungang Road, Hongli Road, Beihuan Boulevard, Huafu Road and Binhe Boulevard. Regular public transport service will resume 2 hours after the traffic controls are lifted, the city’s transport commission said.
Shenzhen Metro Co. will close E and F exits of Civic Center Station and No. 15 Exit of Futian Railway Station between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. during the race Sunday, the operator said yesterday.
This year’s event will be held on the section of Shennan Boulevard between Bao’an South Road and Shahe West Road, and the section of Shahe West Road between Shahe Flyover of Shennan Boulevard and Wanghai Road.
Traffic controls will start at 1 a.m. Sunday and drivers will be banned from turning onto the westward section of Shennan Boulevard between Huanggang Flyover and Xinzhou Flyover from Huanggang, Caitian and Jintian roads.
Starting at 5 a.m. vehicles will be forbidden from entering the main area of the event near the Shenzhen Civic Center.
Starting from 8 a.m., police will impose controls gradually, section by section, according to the progress of the 42-km race from the Shenzhen Civic Center square to Shahe West Road and Shenzhen Bay Park along Shennan Boulevard and then from west to east from Shenzhen Bay Park to Shennan Road Central. The race ends at the Civic Center square in Futian District.
Residents with emergencies along the marathon route can call 110 or 8333-3333 for police help.
