    Warehouse closed

LAW enforcement authorities in Bao’an District closed a den that had stored 10.3 tons of dangerous and flammable chemicals in Zhongxin Industrial City on Tuesday.

The landlord of the warehouse, which has an area of about 10 square meters, and the chemical owner have been detained for investigation.

An inspector smelled a pungent stench coming from a warehouse in the industrial city while patrolling, and he found out that this warehouse was an unlicensed den selling dangerous chemicals, whose owner often evaded inspections by locking the door.

    Illegal poppy sale

A PHARMACY owner was arrested last week for illegally selling powdered poppy shells.

The Bao’an police received a tip Nov. 8 that a pharmacy was illegally selling opium poppy. Police searched the pharmacy and found a plastic bottle containing brown powder, which was later confirmed to be made from opium poppy. The pharmacy owner admitted that he wanted to sell poppy to make a profit, and that he grinded it into powder to escape inspection. The owner has been detained.
