    Illegal fuel

YANTIAN police seized 57,195 liters of so-called environment-friendly fuel, a mixture of methanol and gasoline that is highly flammable, from 65 eateries and restaurants in the district. The eateries have been closed due to fire safety concerns and could be re-opened pending rectifications.

    Cheating woman

A WOMAN, surnamed Zhou, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison by Nanshan District People’s Court for cheating nearly 180,000 yuan (US$25,974) out of her boyfriend.

The boyfriend, identified as Yang, got to know Zhou over WeChat in April last year. Zhou lied saying she was 18 years old and showed Yang a fake ID with a birth date reading 1997. After they had developed a relationship, Zhou hid the truth that she had a boyfriend and started to cheat money from Yang by using various excuses, such as illnesses afflicting her father and herself. Between May and December 2015, Yang had given a total of 177,785 yuan to Zhou before she disappeared. Zhou was caught in Shanghai in April.

    No gutter oil

SHENZHEN’S food and drug administration announced Thursday morning that no illegally recycled waste cooking oil was found in 10 batches of cooking oil made by the Dongguan-based oil and food company that supplies cooking oil to Shenzhen University.

The food administration conducted an inspection after rumors circulated online saying a canteen at Shenzhen University used gutter oil to cook food.
