A 2-YEAR-OLD boy underwent an emergency rescue and gradually recovered from vomiting in a hospital after accidentally ingesting rat poison while his family was dining at a restaurant in Longhua New Area on Sunday evening, the Shenzhen Evening News reported yesterday. The boy’s family was having dinner at the restaurant named Youji on Sunday when the mother noticed that her younger son was suddenly coughing hard. “Something was stuck in his throat, and he was coughing up husks of grains,” said the mother. “Our elder son said that the little brother ate something that he had picked up from the ground.” At the same time, the father found the same grains in the corner, which were later confirmed to contain rat poison, which had been placed at the restaurant to kill rats. The child was sent to a nearby hospital for a physical check and to receive treatment. The child is in a stable physical condition but in a bad mental state at the moment. The father, identified as Liang, said that he would take his son to the hospital for a follow-up examination in two days. He also insisted that an inspection should be carried out on the rat poison to verify the hazards posed to the child. The owner of the restaurant, surnamed Zhang, didn’t dodge blame, admitting his improper management. Zhang said he would further carry out an overall rearrangement by cleaning up and placing the rat poison in corners. Additionally, Zhang paid for the child’s medical expenses, but hasn’t come to an agreement with the boy’s parents for compensation. (Zhang Qian, Liu Shiyang) |
