A SUSPECT was detained by Bao’an police in Fujian Province for allegedly trafficking drugs, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported yesterday.
During the National Day holiday, Bao’an police received a report from a logistics company’s courier who said that the company had received a package that may contain drugs after they inspected it with an X-ray machine. The package was delivered to the company by an international freight forwarder and its destination was Australia.
The police found two smaller boxes in the package — one of them with photo albums of children and the other with fishing rods. After an on-site inspection, the police discovered 8.1 kilograms of drugs hidden in the inside layer between the photo albums and fishing rods.
A police task force detained the suspect, surnamed Zhuang, in Fujian Province on Dec. 1 with the assistance of local police. During an interrogation, Zhuang confessed that he had used express parcels to smuggle drugs overseas. He was placed under arrest Dec. 15.
