Pedestrian killed
A PEDESTRIAN was killed when a bus collided with two other vehicles at the intersection of Aiguo Road and Tai-ning Road in Luohu District at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
The identity of the victim was not released.
The accident, during evening rush hour, also caused serious road congestion.
Police said that the cause of the accident was still under investigation.
Phone smuggling
HUANGGANG Exit-Entry Inspection Station said that its special service officers arrested five alleged smugglers, one female and four male, for attempting to smuggle 515 iPhones into Shenzhen from Hong Kong at Futian Checkpoint on Friday.
During a duty inspection, the custom officers found two suspicious men in a corner of Futian Checkpoint. When the officers approached them, they didn’t cooperate. Officers later found dozens of mobile phones in their bags.
In the following questioning, officers then found three other parallel traders among the border-crossing passengers and seized 103 iPhone mobile phones from each of them.
The five smugglers have been handed to customs for investigation.
Woman jailed for porn
A 19-YEAR-OLD woman, surnamed Long, received a jail term for performing porn online to make profit, a court verdict of Nanshan People’s Court showed.
Long had performed on an online porn show since July and made about 20,000 yuan in a month before she was reported and caught by Xili police in August.
The operator of the online performance platform, Shenzhen Feizao Science and Technology Co., was fined 25,000 yuan (US$3,263) by Nanshan culture authorities for spreading pornographic content.
Community buses
TWO community bus routes were put into service in Yantian yesterday. The two community bus routes are operated by Shenzhen Bus Group. Route B924 starts at Zhongying Street and runs to Yantian Bus Terminal, and route B925 starts at Yantian Bus Terminal and runs to the Banshan Xigu housing estate.
SMEs festival
THE 10th China Small and Medium Enterprises Festival will open today in Shenzhen. During the festival, representatives of enterprises in China will attend a seminar on the city’s innovation and visit local enterprises. A report on the development of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in 2016 will be released.
