DALANG Police Station has imposed a punishment of administrative detention on six students who beat up a 12-year-old student of Aiyi School out of revenge.
As six of the students are above 14 and under 16 years of age, their detention won’t be physically enforced. Two other students, who were involved in the assault and are under 14, have been ordered to be strictly disciplined by their guardians, according to a release from Longhua’s public security sub-bureau.
Investigations showed that the eight students between the ages of 13 and 15 surrounded the Grade 7 student, surnamed Xie, on his way home near Shuiweixincun in Dalang, and began kicking and slapping him, while videotaping the assault Friday.
The students Guo, Yang and Huang also blackmailed Xie over a small amount of money. Yang and another student surnamed Yu took revenge on Xie as they thought he had reported to the teacher Dec. 14 that they were absent from school.
Medical examinations showed that Xie suffered slight injuries and he was being kept at the hospital for observation as of press time yesterday.
The students and their families have apologized to Xie and agreed to compensate Xie’s family for his medical costs.
