A MAN who bought a fruit knife to take on a Metro train was controlled by security guards at Minle Station of Line 4 yesterday.
According to the official microblog of Shenzhen’s information office, the police received a report at 8:50 a.m. yesterday saying that a man had taken a knife on a train at Minle Station that was going to Futian Checkpoint.
Police officers and security guards controlled the man at Minle Station and took him to the police station for further investigation.
A preliminary investigation showed the man may have a mental disorder.
The operation of Metro Line 4 wasn’t disrupted.
Some morning riders accused the security inspectors who allowed the man to carry the knife to the train of negligence.
The Shenzhen Metro network, which runs 285 kilometers, bans riders from boarding with items such as controlled knives, paint, lighters and alcohol.
Shenzhen began comprehensive security checks at Metro stations in 2011 to ensure the safety of commuters. All bags are required to go through scanners.
