Woman sends dogs lavish Christmas presents
    2016-12-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THEIR letters to Santa are written, the personalized stockings are ready be hung by the fireplace and on Christmas morning they will wake up to 100 presents worth £1,250 (US$1,531) under the tree.

But Harvey and Lola aren’t spoiled children ready to enjoy a bumper Christmas — they’re the pets of Vikki Jose, 26, from Newcastle, Britain, who admits she’s spent more on her two dogs this festive season than her own boyfriend.

Her lavish spending is nothing unusual for the healthcare assistant who has spent more than £10,000 on 4-year-old Labrador, Harvey, and 2-year-old Bichon Frise, Lola, over the last four years.

That includes £1,200 on birthday parties, £100 on soft toys, £96 on personalized Newcastle football shirts, and on Christmas day they will be spoiled with yet more treats including new collars, leads and cushions.

Vikki, who lives with her parents, spends £200 per month on her dogs, and happily admits to spending more on her mutts than her boyfriend of three years, Jack Cassidy, 26, a car body painter.

The pampered pooches even have their own Christmas wish list for Santa — as well as personalized stockings and advent calendars with doggy treats inside.

“My friends and family think I’m mad when it comes to my dogs,” Vikki says. ”But I don’t see them as dogs, I see them as humans stuck in dogs’ bodies.

“To me they are my children and the most special thing in my life. At the end of the month, if I have £100 left, I’ll go out and buy them loads of toys.”

Vikki lives at home with mum Amanda Jose, 50, a kitchen assistant and dad Ian, 54, a construction worker.

She starts stocking up on Christmas gifts for her pooches in September.

Incredibly, Vikki has splashed £1,250 on festive gifts for Harvey and Lola, compared to just £700 on her boyfriend.

Vikki says, “People might say that spoiling my dogs this much is excessive, but I think it’s fine.

“Seeing their faces light up when I give them a new toy or treat is worth every moment.”
