ANOTHER top university in China is going to build a new campus in Shenzhen. The cooperative deals were inked between the municipal government and Renmin University of China yesterday morning.
The two sides agreed to jointly construct a Shenzhen campus that will feature a number of subjects in the social sciences as the university, based in Beijing, has enjoyed a high reputation for its social studies.
Renmin University of China will integrate beneficial resources that it has been collecting and cultivating in Shenzhen since it built a research institute in the city 14 years ago.
Both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs will be available at the Shenzhen campus. The deals specifically noted that the new campus would develop majors such as intellectual property rights and human resources management.
Under the agreement, the new campus will also serve to help Shenzhen construct think tanks focused on social sciences so as to provide policy-making conducive to the city’s social and economic development.
“Renmin University of China has been well-known for its advantageous majors, such as economics, law, politics, management, journalism and so forth,” said Liu Wei, president of Renmin University of China, adding that “through cooperation, we hope to bring these merits to Shenzhen’s social development.”
The new campus will set up an educational foundation for developing teaching, research, global communication, training and scholarship, among other aspects.
