    Flight to Auckland

FLIGHT HU7931 left Shenzhen for Auckland at 1:55 p.m. Thursday, marking Hainan Airlines’ first intercontinental route from Shenzhen.

The flight was scheduled to arrive in Auckland at 6:30 a.m. (local time).

This is the sixth intercontinental route that has been opened in Shenzhen this year following routes to Sydney, Los Angeles, Frankfurt, Seattle and Melbourne.

Established in 1993, Hainan Airlines now operates 700 routes linking 100 cities and covering four continents including Asia, Europe, North America and Oceania.

    Bell striking canceled

THE bell striking ceremony to bless the coming of the New Year at Hongfa Temple in Shenzhen Botanical Garden on Saturday has been canceled due to a road project inside the park, according to Luohu police. Police advised residents not to go to the temple for the blessing activity on New Year’s Eve.

    Philanthropic activities

THE city’s civility office will organize 85 philanthropic activities to help some migrant workers spend their Spring Festival holidays in Shenzhen and send 34,000 of them back to their home towns.

    Beihuan rules

VEHICLES that illegally change lanes on Beihuan Boulevard, especially on exits of flyovers, will be fined 200 yuan (US$28.76) and have three penalty points added to their license from Sunday, when a new traffic measure takes effect.

Police optimized road signs and lanes for different destinations along the boulevard to reduce interference between the lanes and improve traffic flow. Traffic police will allow a one-week grace period and punishments will start Jan. 9.
