THE city’s weather will be fine with temperatures ranging between 19 and 25 degrees Celsius before a slight drop Jan. 8 when a new round of cold air will affect the city.

In the week before the Spring Festival holiday, minimum temperatures will drop to 10 degrees Celsius and travelers driving cars or taking buses are advised to be careful of slippery roads in northern Guangdong.

    Holiday fun

SHENZHEN checkpoints and business centers have seen a surge in the amount of travelers on New Year’s Day thanks to the good weather.

Roads to some parks were congested by vehicles and police had to arrange officers to be on duty at Window of the World, Happy Valley, Shenzhen Bay Park, Wutong Mountain and OCT Bay.

    Passenger turnover

THE air service network of Shenzhen Airlines handled 30 million passengers in 2016, the company said Sunday. The Shenzhen-based company operates a fleet of 171 aircraft on 189 routes, including 29 international routes.

    Careless passenger

A CARELESS man left a bag containing HK$40,000 (US$5,159) at Shenzhen North Railway Station after a security check last week.

The bag was found by a safety inspector who handed it over to railway police at the station. The 46-year-old owner of the bag, who later contacted police, said that he had left his bag as he carried a lot of luggage after shopping in Hong Kong and was in a rush for the train.

    E-bike death

AN electric bike driver was killed and a woman passenger was injured when the e-bike collided with a car on Huarong Road in Longhua New Area on Thursday, police said. The e-biker was violating rules by driving the bike against traffic.
