‘Heroic’ man flooded with donations
    2017-01-03  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A KIND-HEARTED homeless man has been flooded with job offers and donations after selflessly returning a shopping bag worth hundreds of pounds he had found in a phone box.

The man, only known as Gary, tracked down Lewis Roberts who had left the goods, including a £140 suit, in a phonebox in Liverpool, Britain.

After discovering the goods Gary contacted Greenwoods Menswear store where the suit was purchased.

The store manager then contacted Roberts to tell him the good news.

Roberts then posted a photo of Gary on Facebook in a bid to find him work, he said, “This man, Gary found my shopping I had left in Liverpool last night and got in touch with the store to get it back to me.

“He’s also a chef if anyone knows where he can find employment.

“As despite being homeless he still returned my items which could have easily been sold on.”

The post has been shared almost 20,000 times and prompted a GoFundMe site to be set up raising more than £2,300 (US$2,829).

Only weeks before Gary’s kind-hearted act he was assaulted by a group of thugs.

The man told The Mirror: “The reason I gave the shopping back is because the guy bought that suit for a reason — for a wedding, a funeral, a party — and I wanted him to be reunited with it. I know I could have sold it but that’s not the person I am.

“I am nothing special though. I just did what was right.”

Darren Galvin set up the GoFundMe page after spotting Roberts’ post.

He said, “I’m hoping that he will see that 2017 will be a different year for him.”(SD-Agencies)
