    THE city’s tax revenue in 2016 reached 260.8 billion yuan (US$37.5 billion), an increase of 30.2 percent over the previous year, the local taxation bureau said.

    The revenue scale ranked No. 3 among major Chinese cities.

    Hottest New Year

    LOCAL residents have just experienced the hottest New Year’s Day in the past six years, with the maximum temperature reaching 28.7 degrees Celsius on Monday.

    In the coming weeks, local residents will experience 3 to 5 cold days with temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius and Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory has reminded people to reduce outdoor activities during the hazy January days.

    Toll fee overcharge

    AN expressway toll card user was overcharged by almost 50 yuan for a 2-kilometer trip on the Jihe (Airport to He’ao) Expressway recently.

    The driver entered the expressway at He’ao Tollgate and exited at Longgang Tollgate, but he was charged 50.96 yuan. The actual cost should be 1.96 yuan.

    The expressway operator promised to handle the complaint within 10 days.
