SHENZHEN will construct a Metro network covering 1,142 kilometers, according to a 2016-2030 plan that was released recently at www.szpl.gov.cn, the official website of the city’s urban planning and land resources commission.
The commission is seeking public suggestions on the Metro network plan. According to the plan, the city will boast a total of 32 Metro lines that include eight express lines of 412 kilometers and 24 regular lines by the end of 2030.
The plan of the Metro network was made to support the city’s development as a national economic center and an international city. It will ensure that trips to the city’s CBDs and district CBDs only take 45 minutes.
The Metro network will serve 70 percent of commuters using public transport. The plan also adds three new regional express lines to lines 6, 11, 13, 14 and 18.
Line 20 will link Futian CBD with Airport New Town area. Line 21 will be built to enhance the connection between Longgang and Qianhai, and Line 22 will link Longhua with Futian.
Residents are welcome to log onto the official website to see more details, and encouraged to fill in feedback forms and email them to szjtc@szpl.gov.cn or mail them to the rail network planning group at No. 8009, Planning Building, Hongli Road West before Jan. 27.
At present, Shenzhen Metro operates eight lines, running 285 kilometers, with another 148.7 kilometers under construction.
