New passenger pickup area at checkpoint
    2017-January-5  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE reconstruction of parking lots at Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint is almost completed, and a pick-up and drop-off area has been built for the convenience of passengers, the Shenzhen Evening News reported yesterday.

According to the city’s transport commission, the former Parking Lot A at Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint has been reconstructed into a public transport service zone for passenger coaches, school buses, public buses and taxies to pick up and drop off passengers.

The former Parking Lot B has been turned into a pickup and drop-off area for private vehicles and will no longer serve as a parking area. Parking Lot D will be the parking area for private vehicles, with its only entrance being at Keyuan Road South.

The separation of public and private vehicles at the checkpoint will largely improve the operating efficiency of public transport in the area, according to the report.

Freight vehicles will also be separated from private vehicles by crossing the border checkpoint through a road to the east side of the checkpoint instead of the road on the west side from Parking Lot D.

The future Metro Line 13 will go through Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint, and the commission said a public transport transfer building will be constructed in consideration of passengers’ needs to transfer between Metro and bus lines.  (Zhang Yang)
